Marcela Cerbon is a fashion photographer originally from Mexico who now lives in Malaga, Spain. She has photographed campaigns for international brands and her work has been published many times.

Today, she is sharing two of her recent photo sessions and she walks us through her work process.

TC: What gear did you use for these two session?

Marcela Cerbon: I shot with a Canon 6d and a 50mm 1.2 lens.

TC: What was the inspiration for the photo sessions?

MC: For the photos of the girl in the flower hat, she is one of my favourite Colombian models! We met in Medellin to take some photos and chose this restaurant wall.

For the other session, these are some portraits I took of a beautiful friend at our favourite coffee shop. It was something really natural and quick, the lights in the back were part of the atmosphere and looked amazing.

TC: What does your post-production process look like?

MC: I usually do a lot of Photoshop on the skin. For these two sessions, I applied the Raven Pack presets in Lightroom and sometimes I also use Alien Skin Exposure.

TC: How has your photography style evolved over time?

MC: I think after all these years, I just started embracing the beauty of simplicity. I try to work hard on the concept of the photo session beforehand so I don't spend too much time editing later and this is the way things turn out best for me.

TC: What is your greatest piece of advice for emerging photographers?

MC: Think about the concept of the photo shoot much more than you usually do and it will always bring the best results.
